Woman History Month 2 There are other
buildings in campus that are named after prominent woman figures in
Purdue. Like Matthews Hall which I spent much of my time last semester.
It is named after Mary Lockwood Matthews who is a home economics
lecturer in Purdue. (Home economics----Like Kemahiran Hidup....yerrrr).
Schleman Hall which houses our Student Services (office of ISS is there. Pretty important to international student) is named after Helen Blanche Schleman. She fought for the rights of female students in Purdue. Thats all !!! its really interesting to read more about Women in Purdue. Listed above are just those that have buildings named after them. There are so many important figures that if i were to spend my time talking about them i will die!!! all I want to say is that I have grown up in an environment that is dominated by female, so when I known that i will come to a university that is dominate by male I was a little worried but I actually really enjoy my whole experience here. OMGIts a shock. I've just seen the news about our new cabinet. Rafidah Aziz was dropped.
her problem seemed so long ago that I forgot about. although it might be expected it was still a shock.
On another note, I'm happy to see more Chinese Leaders in the Cabinet this time round. Hopefully they will work hard to service the people.
(I don't know them though. Cham........need to read more newspaper)
Thats all. In classs now
hehe
Women's History Month 1First to answer YT's question, no i did not not finish my blog entry for Disney. its just that i forgot about what happened the rest of my spring break. so will be updating my blog when i remember all the details. Back to topic. This month is Women's History Month where the famous women's in Purdue are chronicled. I was killing some time when i started reading it and I made a really special realization. Many buildings in Purdue are named after womens. To get a better number, I have started on the Residence halls first. There are a total of 16 residence halls in Purdue and 12 are named after someone. among all these 12, 4 are named after women. This might seem like a small number but i feel its really significant to me as a woman engineer studying in Purdue. As a University that is well known for engineering which is a male dominated field, this reassures me that the contributions of women are not ignored in Purdue. going to continue the rest soon so keep looking at my blog. I still have my spring break trip and women's history month to update :P Spring Break 08 -Disney If i want to summarize my trip to Disney, all i can say is Disney is a Magical Place. I went to Disney before and i though it will be just a refresher but the truth is it is a totally different experience. we went quite early (like right after it opened) and spend the rest of the day around. Disneyworld (WDW) is really like a world to itself. there are 4 parks situated around lake beuna. From the highway u cannot see WDW. it is hidden behind a huge grove of trees. even when u reach the parking lot u still cannot see it....suspense. (actually it is just disney trying to make money la.) the first park i went to is the Magical Kingdom which is just a replica of the one in California. everything is pretty similiar cept for some little differences. ![]() however, even with all the similarity i still feel it is different. maybe because i was too young back then to really enjoy everything. the most memorable thing is the Disney parade. seeing all of your favorite Disney characters is just an amazing feeling. I was like crazy that time jumping up and down, hyperactive. kinda funny to see myself like that again. in between we took different rides in Disney. some rides are fun but some are more suitable for little kids. however these rides invoke a sense of nostalgia to me. made me remember what happened 7 years ago. but i missed taking pictures with Stitch!! things are expensive in Disney but i managed to get quite a few of souvenir pennies done. later that day, we went to another park, Disney Hollywood Studios. this is a park that i would love to visit again. we arrive quite late and did not have time to take any of the rides there. however our trip is not done in vain. I managed to catch Fanstasmic again and it is fantastic!!!!!! the one in WDW is different from the one in Disneyland California. the one in Florida is presented in a stage whereby all kinds of visual effect is used. there are less acting with more visual where we are seeing a film like thing presented on a screen of water. The one in Cali is more of a stage play. I love them both and would recommend Fantasmic to everyone. ![]() i did not get to spent time in this park and will go back again in the future Disney is a magical place where we can find the inner child in us again. I will go back again whenever i have the chance. (gotta get my mom to go to it hehe) Defection I have defected.........me who insists on sticking to it through thick and thin.....finally its too much........I love my laptop more than microsoft so BYE BYE Internet Explorer and Welcome Mozilla Firefox (just to show how much i ignore Mozilla, i need to look at my title bar to know how to spell it) IE have been giving me h*ll lately, slow loading, not responding......... after using Mozilla for half an hour (transfering my stuff from IE, I like it.....faster....cleaner......) Hopefully I will get use to it soon.......One main thing that i will surely miss is going to hotmail straight from my messenger (unless there is a way to do that?) EDIT: ARGHHHHH Cheng Lin's Taiwan fan club cannot be displayed properly on Mozilla!!!!! (her NA fan club does not function fully in IE.....weird) |
